Hana Fresh's seriously has the cutest little fruit and veggie stand on island!
Everything always looks so colorful and fresh! It's impossible to resist....
Zucchini
Big Island Macadamia Nuts
Coconut
Beautiful Mixed Greens...
Juicy rainbows of Tomatoes
Dried Tropical Fruit and Nuts
And each morning I grabbed one of these....
A vegan "Tropical Smoothie" made with Banana, Mango, Pineapple, Strawberry, and Ice.
Hana Fresh also offers: Dairy based Smoothies, Coffee, Banana bread, Grilled paninis ( Carlos had a "Cuban" ), super fresh Ahi Steaks, Chinese Chicken Salads, Fruit Bowls, and bags of Mixed Nuts.
Luckily you don't have to drive all the way to Hana to enjoy the produce grown at Hana Fresh. I've seen their products at Whole Foods and Mana Foods to name a few.......
I bought a ton of these guys to make a fabulous Tomato Salad when I returned home!
Hana Fresh's Tomato Salad-vegan
2 large red Heirloom tomatoes
2 med orange Heirloom tomatoes
5 small yellow Heirloom tomatoes
(cut all tomatoes into wedges)
1/3 cup minced fresh basil
1/2 cup ( or more! ) Kalamata olives
1/4 cup minced red onions
1/2 lemon juiced
2-3 Tb Meyer lemon olive oil
2 Tb red wine vinegar
couple pinches of flaky sea salt ( I used Cyprus )
couple of twists with the pepper mill
( FYI-I didn't actually measure everything out but I'm pretty good at guessing portion sizes. However, taste as you go and go with your gut as always )
I paired this with some Kalamata Olive Bread and some creamy Goat Cheese for a perfectly simple dinner.
And for dessert.....
A freshly picked Orange Jamaican Lilikoi....The best Passion Fruit out there!
Enjoy and Aloha!
