Craving Carbs...

It's a rare thing to find me in the freezer section at the grocery store but sometimes I do crave the convenience of a quick yummy instant meal.....

These are baked potato and pea Samosas by "Crave". I paired them with a Thai Sweet Chili sauce and lime. Mango Chutney would probably be ever better with this....

Potato and Onion Pierogies by "Mrs.T's" with black pepper and Cyprus Flake Sea Salt.

Paired with Fage yogurt ( Only the best of course! )

I've been eating these since highschool. I just LOVE them! However, the $4 yogurt and Artisan Salt is a modern update on my SDSU dorm room staple.

Yes, this is a real place.....And yes, I actually live near by. Hate me....I understand.

I was there from 11:30 to 1pm reading blogs from my iphone.

Oh one more thing....totally random question but you never know..... Anyone out there know of any cool places to stay on Sanibel Island, Captiva or Fort Meyers Florida?? Something not too $$$ but nice. We'll be there 3 nights in October.

Island Time

I've officially zoned out. I've been meaning to do a ton things around my house this week but I just can't. You see, that would require moving.

Small snack before a hard morning at the beach....

I'm starting to stress out about which beach I should go to each day. I mean, there's a lot of factors to consider like, crowd, tide, bugs, wind, shade, etc. Anyway, I'm sure you can relate.

 

Once again...."Lake Pacific" conditions. Welcome to Maui in August.

Hmmmm.....not today.

Okay....this was insane.

Strawberry Milkshake-Vegan

frozen strawberries

lecithin

I'm thinking it was the lecithin. Lecithin is an amazing emulsifier and this thing was as creamy and sweet as a "Micky D's" Strawberry Shake. I'm brilliant.

I spent the rest of the afternoon crashed out on the couch. I think I was dreaming because I thought I saw the Argentine sweeping the living room and doing laundry??

  Ya, dreaming for sure....

When I woke up he was hungry so we headed to the Farmer's Market in Honokowai for a snack at the hot bar......

1/3 of a vegan Burrito, Veggie Rice and some cubes of Avo. Nice.

I plan on spending the remainder of the day on Google. At the moment I'm a bit obsessed with Katy Perry. I think I've watched her "Teenage Dream" and "California Gurls" videos about 20 times in the last 2 days.

I love "Teenage Dream" because it reminds me of my first years in college. Back then ( circa 1995 ) I spent most of my time hanging out at the beach with boys and friends or travelling between San Diego and Santa Barbara via the 101. I don't know....her video just reminded me of that. Feels like a million years ago now. As for the second video....well, Snoop Dogg just cracks me up.

Staycation-Day 4

Breakfast: The obvious....

And then I dragged a very sleepy man out of bed this morning because I wanted someone to paddle with...

We launched our Stand Up boards at "Canoe Beach" for a quick hour race down the coast before the Argentine had to work.

After that, I headed down to "Thousand Peaks" solo to chill out in the sun....

It was hot down there today.

I love Rachel Zoe....I don't watch TV so I have no idea how annoying she might be in person but as a stylist, I think she's brilliant.

One the problems having a holiday on your home island is it can get a bit lonely. I've always been a bit of a loner but sometimes I do like some company.... For instance, I REALLY wanted to get lunch somewhere nice. You know... some place I could sit outside, relax, chat, have a glass of wine and eat a pretty gourmet salad. Unfortunately everyone was working....even my "go to" for dining foodie friends were working. Whatever.....slackers. 

So I went to Pineapple Grill by myself.

The restaurant was fairly full inside so I ate out on the patio. I couldn't figure out why nobody was out there? It was really nice. Weird. I guess everyone wanted to be in the AC.....

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc ( I have now officially broken my mini cleanse ). It was well worth it.

"Baby Spinach and Local Goat Cheese Salad with Macadamia Nuts".

This had a lovely fruity mustard vinaigrette on it.

Hot Bread. Swoon......

Dessert was waiting for me at home :"Purely Decadent"  non dairy Cookie Dough Ice Cream with a large crumble of low-fat vegan Chocolate cake.

Good lord.....

Excuse me while I go pass out on the couch for awhile....Sooooo full.

Cleanse-Day 3

Nothing like a large dark Green Juice in the morning!

1 lb organic local kale

1 small local lemon

2" fresh local peeled ginger

1 peeled cucumber

2 small Gala apples

I just can't seem to get enough of the North Shore these days.....There's just something about Paia. I just love it.

A little leather clutch I picked up from "Imrie"...

Then off to Hoopika to eat my lunch and lay in the sun.

Raw "Mana Wrap" from Mana Foods: raw wrap. carrot and curry pate, tomato, cucumber, sunflower sprouts, lettuce, carrots.

And then around 7pm I got hungry....really hungry. I was also feeling a bit weak and dizzy? I don't know...... So, for dinner I made myself some Amy's Organic Minestrone Soup with some crumbled organic corn chips in it. I really didn't want to have anything processed these last few days but I just really wasn't feeling so hot this evening. Anyway, I guess there's not much wrong with organic soup. It was good. ( I tried taking a picture but it kept coming out so blurry?.....I've been experimenting with the manual settings lately and sometimes I screw up. Bad. )

Vegan Green Papaya Salad and an unpictured large glass of ice water.....( however a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc would have been better....hehehe )

Raw Vegan Lemon and Blackberry Cheesecake. ( made on 8/20)

This was pretty good....If I could change anything it would be the sweetness. Carlos and I both agreed it needed a like bit more agave syrup. Oh well....It was still yummy. The consistency was perfect!

I made up a quick Berry Coulis by blending up some coconut water, frozen berries and some agave. Yum!
